Welcome to the ‘Little Horton’ Nursery – 01274557143

Education

Research has shown that children that attend nursery learn and develop faster. Little Horton is a fully equipped nursery; we have created a fun packed, friendly and engaging environment where children can learn and develop.

Activities

We are always looking for new ways to make our children have fun. We do this through continous change and the introduction of new and engaging resouces. At age 3+ the children are at the transition point of joining main stream primary school.

Development

We monitor the development of our children and share this information with parents. This is very important to us so where we believe support is needed the together the parents we can provide the support needed.
We use Tapestry the leading online software to share useful development information with parents. Parents can always login to find out information about their children and make in input.

Safety

The safety of our children is a key priority. We like to see our children have fun but in the end we also want them safe and secure. We have set up our place and plan our routines with the safety of our children in mind.
Our experienced and qualified staff are an integral part of our safety process. Every staff is first aid trained and always there to ensure our children are safe.

We want to widen the baby’s experience. We do this by making plenty of time for play including looking at picture books together, playing with simple musical instrument, singing rhymes and lullabies etc.

Happy Lions: 2 – 4 years olds (mixed group)

Our 2 yr Olds

Our mixed playroom is designed and equipped to promote physical skills such as crawling and walking. A beautiful and stimulating environment with plenty of sensory experiences.

Key stage development focus

With growing interest in the natural world including plants and wildlife, painting, drawing, sorting bricks, to completing simple jigsaw to learning to express their feelings and role playing; we have set up this room for our children to have fun while they make the most of this development stage.

3 yr Olds

For our 3-year-olds, our mixed playroom is designed to develop and increase your child’s independence and social skills to ensure a smooth move to primary school.

Key stage development focus

  • Children are happy to play with others
  • They begin to make friends.
  • Increased speech activities for communication and language
  • Children want to be independent

At this stage, the children quickly improve their language and learn to be independent. We actively encourage this process through reading, counting and storytelling as well as teaching them to look after things including their clothes, toys, pets, plants etc. Our music sessions help this group to improve their concentration and listening skills.

  • We are passionate about child care; our qualified and friendly staff are here to provide high quality child care in a safe and loving environment
  • Little Horton Lane Nursery is a relatively small nursery. Our rooms are organized into very small groups and every child has a key staff person.
  • We have a well-established settling in process with the happiness of your child being paramount
  • We are open from 7.30am until 6pm, Monday to Friday, 48 weeks per year. We closed for the 3rd/4th week of August, Bank Holiday Mondays and the week between Christmas and New Year.
  • We have an internal intercom to allow you to telephone and speak directly to your child’s room staff to allow you into the building to drop off and pick your child.
  • We offer a variety of sessions, half days, an hourly rate and a ‘variable’ day place so you can select the care you need.
  • We are independently inspected by Ofsted and the Food Standards Agency.
  • We have a professional open partnership between our staff and our parents meaning any concerns can be voiced without awkwardness, we welcome feedback and are dedicated to meeting parents’ needs.
  • We focus on developing our children to be independent and transition to school.

Security is of paramount concern to us. With this in mind we operate a video Intercom access system to protect children and nursery staff. This system allows nursery personnel to monitor and control who can get into our building. Parents simply press buzzer at the entry door, staff sees and identify them on camera, before given access.

We operate an “open house” policy where registered parents can enter the nursery any time of the day. They can leave or collect their children without fuss whiles unregistered visitors without authority to come to the premises would not be allowed in.

CCTV operates all-round the premises for the protection of children, staff and parents. It drives away burglars, stalkers, vandals and other unwelcome visitors. Images are retained on the system for an extended period of time and then automatically erased

Your children’s education and wellfare are our main priorities
